Every year we go to Gatlinburg and get us a Chalet.... we looked at that one before to...
Just thought I'd pass this recommendation along for a Gatlinburg chalet, about 12 minutes up the mountain from town. 15 of us stayed for 3 nights and everyone loved the place. (See Link Below)
The website is weird in that it depicts the property in much worse condition than it is.
For example, the pictures of the first floor with the view and of the kitchen are before the remodel.
The ugly green carpet was replaced with hardwood. The ugly white laminate on kitchen counters was replaced with faux granite, the cabinets are now wood, and the appliances are now stainless steel. The breakfast bar has been removed and replaced with a large island.
Even more remarkably, the picture of the view shows Ober Gatlinburg, a tourist trap down below. What it doesn't show is the sweet, sweeping view of the mountains that goes on forever. It was worth getting up early just to experience the morning view.
The picture shows the blinds pulled. The reality is the blinds have been removed, and all you see are mountains out the window.
The basement where the pool table is has been recarpeted, and the pool table has been resurfaced (or whatever the term is). There is a little fridge behind the mini bar.
The living area is quite spacious.
Gripes:
1. We could hear a "carnival worker" from Ober Gatlinburg all the way up the mountain. On a visit to OG, we tactfully told the guy we could hear him by telling him we wanted to put a face to the voice. The problem was solved, at least for one night.
2. The controls on the hot tub were locked, and we couldn't get the jets to work, though the water was warm.
3. "Bedrooms 5&6" looked to be one room separated by a wall. There was an opening but no door. I guess this is ok for families, but if one desires privacy, this could become an issue.
4. Parking is weird. I had to park up the hill at another complex, as there is room for only 4 cars, and they all have to park in a row. It ended up not being such an issue.
I could see this being an awesome place to go to in the fall.

I arrive Friday afternoon, and depart Monday morning. Monday traffic is a breeze. Friday isn't too bad late afternoon.
I completely avoid Pigeon Forge and Sevierville on the way in. I usually drive around and head in through Cosby. I've been told by someone who lived down there that if you know the backroads you can bypass those two cities by other roads.
If you rent a cabin or chalet with all the amenities, particularly with view, functioning hot tub (there tends to problems with them), fireplace, and all the kitchen supplies, you reduce the necessity to go into town, and increase the desire to stay in the chalet. I also highly recommend a place with a washer and dryer.
I buy food at Food City at the beginning of the stay, so some meals are eaten at the cabin. Dinners are eaten at the park end of town at off peak hours. My favorite restaurant being the Cherokee Grill (never a wait, and the food is good). Take the bypass around town and come into Gatlinburg from the park side.
Avoid Cades Cove. Avoid Gatlinburg on a Saturday night.
Ultimately, the enjoyment has been in utilizing the cabin to the fullest. This last time we played a lot of corn hole, cards. We brought our own tunes. And of course, alcohol.
Previous trips we did a *lot* of hot tubbing (after a day of hiking), had a movie night, a reiki massage night, a games night.
Also, sometimes Gatlinburg *is* fun. For example, last October we went through a haunted house off the main drag. It ended up being a hoot, even if the house itself sucked. Hillbilly Golf is a MUST. So is getting a sample of fudge from every candy store on the strip. I *must* go into the Old Smoky Candy Kitchen and watch them make taffy. I distinctly remember this very same place from 1968 when my family went on its first vacation. When I go in there I'm 5 years old again. This last time I rode the go karts in Ober Gatlinburg, and I confess I found it a lot of fun.

There was only one time I enjoyed it there. We stayed at a Chalet north of Gatlinburg on a golf course. Now I don't play golf, but I went with my ex wife, her cousin and her cousin's wife. There was a hot tub and both my ex and her cousin went to bed early. Well I don't think I need to say more.
I sounded like cincygreg in my last post, didn't I.

You're on a board moderated by your wife and you're bragging, actually bragging, about cheating on your exwife with her cousin while her cousin's husband is asleep in a shared chalet.

For those with brain damage to that section of the brain that processes the written word this may not have seemed like anything but to those of us with fully functional brains it asks if what follows is correct.
So I guess what you're saying is that you have a fondness for implying that you have cheated on your wife? That somehow you think it's a badge of honor to suggest to any reasonable person that you did indeed "bang" her as you so eloquently put it?

Sorry to rain on your little self-congratulatory parade but I asked a question about your suggestive posting. A question you haven't actually answered by the way.
So dump some cold water down your pants and cool off. It is kind of nice to know that you think I'm important enough to try and trick but if this is your standard you've got some serious work to do.
